International Development Internship
JOB SUMMARY
As in international development intern, you engage with the social, political economic and cultural dynamics shaping development work in Haiti. You will report to the Executive Director (ED). This internship require someone who has strong critical thinking balanced with flexibility to changing circumstances and open-mindedness to learning, and the ability to collaborate across cultures yet also accomplish tasks independently. You will practice and support local planning and community based action including program monitoring, primary and secondary source research, as well as entrepreneurship and fund solicitation. You will engage with hands-on projects in a focus area based on your experience and passion, such as:
- Grant Research and Writing
- Program Monitoring and Evaluation
PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

Regular communication with the ED to set goals for the internship, and establish and monitor weekly progress.

Document key organizational processes and recommend and implement process improvement opportunities to optimize operations.

Attend and present at weekly team meetings.

Exchange of knowledge with the Espere staff through teaching, mentoring, listening and fellowship.

Qualifications:

Demonstrated ability to design and achieve a project (individual and team projects accepted).

At least two years of international development or nonprofit studies.

International travel experience, or travel within diverse socio-economic and cultural communities in the US.

Competence in Haitian Creole or French, or willingness to learn Haitian Creole.
